Pinotage is re-known as the traditional South Africa grape variety.
Strongly perfumed with cedar-toned plums and dark berries it also has a smooth-textured tannin structure.
It is rich and powerful with redcurrant flavours and warm vanilla notes from oak ageing.
Serve at 15° – 17° with BBQ, grilled red meats, good stews, Indian cuisine or robust blue cheese.
The Bergsig Estate is in the Breedkloof area of Breede River Valley about 110 km from Cape Town. This is where the Drakenstein and Hex River Mountains meet, so the farm was named “Bergsig”, meaning “mountain view”.
